CRICKET fever will grip the country this summer as the World Cup and Ashes take place in England and Stratford Cricket Club is gearing up for the excitement by welcoming the World Cup trophy to Swans Nest Lane.

The Cricket World Cup is coming to Stratford on Thursday, April 18 as part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour, driven by Nissan.

To celebrate, Warwickshire Cricket Board will be holding an under 11 cricket festival featuring youngsters from a number of local cricket clubs at Stratford CC’s Swans Nest Lane ground from 2pm until 4pm.

Refreshments will be available and there will be an opportunity to get your photograph taken with the trophy which ten nations will be competing for in England and Wales this summer.

Stratford CC has a thriving junior section and will be running four teams (under nine, under 11, under 13 and under 15) this season, as well as coaching for children aged five to eight through the All Stars Cricket initiative and a newly launched girls’ section.

For more information, visit www.stratfordcricketclub.com or come and see for yourself on April 18.

England begin their ICC World Cup campaign against South Africa on May 30. The Ashes series against Australia starts on August 1 at Edgbaston.
