FOOTBALL - Studley out of FA Vase after shootout defeat

Stratford Editorial 4th Oct, 2022   0

STUDLEY were knocked out of the FA Vase after the Bees suffered a disappointing penalty shootout defeat to lower league Stapenhill.

Neither side was able to find a winner in 90 minutes before Studley were beaten 5-4 on spot kicks, with Jake Bloomer the unfortunate player to miss, as the Bees exited the FA Vase at the Second Round Qualifying stage.

And Studley followed up that result with another goalless draw in the league against Atherstone as Brendon Bunn in the Bees goal made several fine saves.

However, Studley finally found the net in their impressive 3-1 win away at Whitchurch Alport as Dan Carter scored twice with Sam Jackson also on target.

And Jackson put Studley ahead on 28 minutes with a tidy finish into the bottom corner before Alport equalised on 53 minutes.

However, Carter restored Studley’s lead just a minute later when he finished off a fine move before Bunn saved a penalty to keep the Bees ahead.

And Carter’s second of the game sealed the win for Studley just three minutes after the penalty save after he robbed a defender of possession before picking out the bottom corner with a fine finish.

Studley are next in action at home to Highgate United TONIGHT (Tuesday, October 4) with kick-off at 7.45pm at The Beehive.
