THE WINTER campaign got under way for athletes from local triathlon squad Do3 as members competed in single-discipline events as well as the last few triathlon races of the season.
Toni Senior was first lady and Claire Jackson was sixth at Minehead Sprint Triathlon. The event was raced over a 750m open water sea swim followed by a 20km undulating bike route with views over Exmoor National Park and Porlock Bay.
A 5km coastal run concluded the triathlon which Senior completed in 1:16:16 and Jackson in 1:20:26.
In duathlon, Katie Sumner was fifth in her age group at the Cotswolds Duathlon which was centred around Sudeley Castle. The race was made up of a 5km run, 18km bike and final 5km run.
With a focus solely on cycling, Emma Bexson and Amy Hinton competed at The Closed Circuit Time Trial Championship at Thruxton. They completed the ten-mile time trial 20 seconds apart with Bexson finishing in 30:19.
Grant Marshall tested his mettle and completed an Ironman distance event through Warwickshire. He was supported by squad members at various stages of his 3.8km swim, 180km bike and 42km run.
Do3 coach Corinne Moss said: “Well done to everyone who raced at the various disciplines. Our thanks also to Everyone Active in Warwick who opened the pool early to enable Grant to swim unobstructed.
“For some years Everyone Active has supported Do3 and we are grateful for their continued support of the squad and of individual athletes through their Sporting Champions Programme.”
Do3 is mentored and managed by award-winning coach Dave Knight and is made up of more than 250 Midlands-based athletes – from triathlon beginners and enthusiasts to international age group competitors and professional athletes.
Squad members are given access to a dedicated app which manages swim and run sessions and charts upcoming events, leaderboards, rewards and special offers.
