Claverdon Rugby Club youngsters are raring to go

Stratford Editorial 3rd Sep, 2020   0

CLAVERDON RFC Minis and Juniors are looking forward to welcoming back all players and parents for the new season starting on Sunday, September 6.

The club is following all guidance issued by the RFU on its Return to Play pathway so all players are able to safely get back on the field again after six months away from rugby.

This season is a major milestone for Claverdon, since it is the first time in more than 20 years that the club will be fielding a Colts (U17/18) team.

Colts team manager Ian Lynch said: “When we started coaching our group as six-year-olds, it was always our plan to make rugby inclusive and enjoyable so they kept coming back for more, with the ultimate aim of taking them through to a Colts team.

“We’ve reached that goal this season, which is a massive credit to the club, coaches, parents and players.”

The inclusive and enjoyable approach to rugby is at the heart of the club, which now runs teams for all ages between U6 and Colts and currently has more than 250 young players turning up in their red and white kit every Sunday morning.

Boys and girls of all abilities, experience, shapes and sizes are welcome so, if you fancy blowing away the lockdown cobwebs by getting involved in rugby, get in touch through the website at https://claverdonrfc.rfu.club or turn up on a Sunday morning when you will be welcomed and pointed in the right direction.
