IT was party time at YHA Stratford-Upon-Avon as it celebrated its platinum anniversary.
The Alveston hostel – which found a home in the grade II listed Georgian mansion 70 years ago – hosted Victorian garden games including egg and spoon and sack races, while a treasure hunt around the grounds kept aspiring explorers busy, leaving others to browse cake and craft stalls.
The garden party raised some £800 for the YHA charity Breaks for Kids which supports children from disadvantaged backgrounds to visit YHA hostels across the country.
The grounds of the 18th century mansion in still comprise of many of its original features, stables, coach houses and trees.
