Women celebrated by Stratford Sea Cadets

Stratford Editorial 15th Mar, 2017   0

TACKLING pirates was the order of the day for Stratford Sea Cadets.

TS Gurkha marked 100 years of women in the Royal Navy and International Women’s Day with a special visit by Lieutenant Commander Suzanne Lynch – a senior Royal Navy Officer and former Sea Cadet – who talked about her recent posting to Djibouti where she was in charge of logistics on counter-piracy naval operation ‘Operation Atalanta’.

Officer in charge, Lt Roger Edmunds said: “We have a high proportion of girls within TS Gurkha so it seemed appropriate to highlight this anniversary.”

And vice chair Chris Wheeler added: “‘Lt Cdr Lync’s presentation really caught the imagination of everyone. This is an area of naval operations that many of the cadets are unfamiliar with.”
