A MENTAL health team from St Michael’s Hospital in Warwick has achieved great respect.

The Larches Ward team took home the ‘Respect for Everyone’ award at the Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust Quality Awards.

The team were crowned winners for breaking down barriers to equality, challenging stigma, and treating each patient was unique and valuable.

Other local winners included a community mental health team from Nuneaton, a respite care team for children with a learning disabilities in Solihull, and nurses who specialise in wound care based in Coventry.

This is the ninth year the trust has celebrated its staff at the awards. It received more than 300 nominations for hospital services including podiatry, mental health, children’s occupational therapy and wheelchair services.

Trust chair Jagtar Singh said: “All too often, staff don’t get recognition for the dedication and hard work they put in every day.

“Our Q Awards aim to help put that right, and this year’s event was another great occasion which showcased some excellent people and some truly remarkable and high quality care.”

The trust provides mental health and learning disability services to Warwickshire, Coventry and parts of Solihull. Most of the care it provides is in the community and patients’ own homes, although it also offers inpatient services for people with learning disabilities and mental health issues.

Nominations came from patients, families and carers, and also from within the trust for particular individuals or teams who have gone above and beyond in providing high-quality care.
