FIREFIGHTERS in Warwickshire have tackled 42 fires in the open in just the last 48 hours.
It has prompted Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service to urge residents to take extra precautions in the hot and dry weather conditions.
A spokesperson said: “Ground conditions haven’t changed, making the risk of fire spread high.
“Please remember not to light fires, including disposable barbecues and campfires, as just a few sparks and a slight breeze will result in rapid fire spread.
“Make sure you put your cigarettes right out, and don’t throw them on the ground or out of car windows.
“Don’t leave glass bottles in the countryside – glass can magnify the sun and cause fires.”
