Volunteers wanted to help catch speeding drivers in Warwickshire

Stratford Editorial 22nd Nov, 2020   0

WARWICKSHIRE Police is calling for administration volunteers to help catch out speeding drivers.

Community Speedwatch (CSW) is a national scheme where residents join together to monitor speeds of vehicles in their local area with support from the police.

And the county’s force is looking for volunteers to support those monitoring speed in towns and villages across Warwickshire.

Based at various locations across the county, the role includes receiving monitoring information collected by roadside volunteers, completing vehicle PNC checks and verifying vehicle information, maintaining information databases and compiling letters to vehicle owners.

Inspector Sally Bunyard-Spiers said “This is a practical volunteering opportunity for someone who is able to commit between two to four hours per week for a minimum of a 12 month period and who wants to make a real difference to the safety of the communities of Warwickshire.

“If you are concerned about speeding in your community but would like to stay indoors and use your skills to support Community Speedwatch in your wider area, this could be the role for you.”

Training is provided, though someone with good IT skills and a good level of written and communication skills is preferred.

An understanding of Data Protection and the need for confidentiality is also required.

Visit https://bit.ly/36uqGRT to apply before Monday November 30.

Those who want to sign up as a Community Speedwatch volunteer should contact their local Safer Neighbourhood Team.

Visit www.communityspeedwatch.org for more information on the scheme.
