AN UNUSUAL birthday present has prompted a Stratford man to raise money for charity.

Dennis Rachwal is hoping to raise £2,000 for energy charity Practical Action by skydiving on Sunday (April 17) – his 60th birthday.

His daughters, Emily and Charlotte, decided to mark the special birthday with by buying him a ticket to jump out of a plane at 13,000 feet.

Dennis said: “My daughters and their partners called me to account and gave me a ticket to go jump out of an aeroplane as my 60th birthday present.

“I burst out laughing as I opened the envelope and saw what it was.

“I decided I wanted to support a development charity that tackles energy issues, having worked in the energy industry for 37 years.

“Practical Action works with some of the poorest people in the developing world, enabling them to access energy for heating, lighting, education and medical services and lift themselves out of poverty.”
