Two more arrests in Leamington murder investigation

Stratford Editorial 25th Jan, 2020   0

TWO more people have been arrested overnight as police continue the investigation into the murder of 17-year-old Nasir Patrice in Leamington.

Officers have arrested a 16-year-old male on suspicion of murder and an 18-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender. No details of where those arrested are from, or where they were arrested, have been released by police.

They remain in police custody while the investigation continues.

Nasir, from Birmingham, was stabbed on Tachbrook Road on Wednesday January 15.

Police believe his killing could be connected to so-called county lines drug dealing – in which big city drug gangs target smaller towns where gang members are not known to police.

A post mortem confirmed Nasir died as a result of a stab wound to the chest. His family issued a statement saying they were “heartbroken”.

There have been four previous arrests in connection with the investigation – all of who have since been released on police bail while investigations are ongoing.

A 33-year-old man from Leamington, a 17-year-old boy from Coventry, and an 18-year-old man from Birmingham who was injured in the incident, were all arrested on suspicion of murder. An 18-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses and anyone with any information on this incident is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
