A TRAIN company is moving from Long Marston to Southam.

Vivarail – which creates emission free trains from old London Underground tube trains – will relocate to Kineton Industrial Estate early next year.

The firm is moving from Quinton Rail Technology Centre to locate more of its business on a single site.

Trains, which were previously tested at Long Marston, will now be trialled on a track in South Wales.

Vivarail chief executive Adrian Shooter said: “It is with a touch of sadness we will have to say goodbye to our friends and colleagues at Long Marston. However, we need to consolidate all our operations under one roof and our new facility at Southam gives us that opportunity.

“Rather than being spread among three or four different buildings we will all be housed under one roof which will ensure a seamless method of working with stores, design, engineering and production all in one building.

“It means we can continue to refine our build and delivery processes and to deliver high quality and excellent trains to our customers.”
