Tired lamb found swimming in canal aqueduct rescued by firefighters

Stratford Editorial 18th Jun, 2019   0

FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue a tired lamb found swimming in a canal aqueduct.

The sheep was found stuck in the aqueduct on Salters Lane in Bearley on Tuesday morning (June 18).

Crews – who were joined by the Large Animal Rescue Unit from Rugby – say they did not know how long the lamb had been in the water and it was distressed and tired.

The animal was lifted out of the canal after an improvised halter was made.

A spokesman from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Contact was made with the landowner and the lamb was reunited with the flock none the worse for its adventure.”
