STRATFORD MP Manuela Perteghella has resigned as a district councillor as balancing both roles proves “challenging”.
Dr Perteghella has served as a councillor representing Welford on Stratford District Council since her victory in a by-election in 2020, and was re-elected in 2023. While stepping down from her role on the district council, she will continue to represent the area as MP.
Speaking about her decision, Manuela said:”It has been a privilege to serve as a district councillor and to stand up for our community.
“Balancing both roles has been challenging, and after careful thought, I have decided to step down from the council so I can focus fully on my work as MP. I remain passionate about delivering for local people and will continue to do so in Westminster.”
A by-election to fill the vacancy will take place on the same day as the Warwickshire County Council elections in May.
