Stratford bus drivers takes eco award

Stratford Editorial 2nd Jul, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

A FORMER solicitor turned bus driver has been rewarded for his eco-friendly driving.

Each year Stagecoach Midlands reward the top performing ‘eco-friendly driver’ at each of their seven depots and Richard Baugh was recognised at the Stratford depot for the second year running.

Stagecoach used its hi-tech eco-driver monitoring system, which measures the driver’s performance when accelerating, braking, cornering and idling to identify the top performing driver.

Stagecoach Midlands managing director Steve Burd said: “Sustainability is at the heart of our business and we are continuing to work hard to reduce the environmental impact of our operations.

“As a business, we have made good progress on our sustainability strategy over the past seven years.

“Attracting more people out of cars and on to our bus services is also helping reduce the overall carbon emissions from transport.”

Richard, who was a solicitor in Kent for 30-years, was presented with a £50 gift voucher.
