STAFF at HB&O Financial Services in Leamington are lacing up their running shoes ready to take part in a ‘Laps of the Lake Challenge’ for charity.

The team aim to cover up to 220 miles between them by either walking, jogging or running around the lake at Draycote Water over a five-hour period on July 10, with all the cash raised in sponsorship being divided between Cancer Research UK and The Myton Hospices.

Anthony Baynham, Director of HB&O Financial Services, told the Observer: “The Laps of the Lake challenge is a fantastic charity event which has the joint benefit of raising funds for two great charities, whilst bringing all our work colleagues together to reach the 220 miles target”.

The team is hoping to hit a sponsorship target of £2,500 (£1,250 for each charity). HB&O Financial Services will match donations pound for pound up to the target of £2,500.

Jason Strain, Managing Director of HB&O Financial Services, added: “As a company, we are always willing to demonstrate support for such worthy causes. We are so proud to be able to help two local charities at such a vital time, especially when fundraising is needed more than ever”.

Over the last year, Covid has had a huge impact on Cancer Research UK’s lifesaving research.

Ryan Goode, spokesperson for Cancer Research UK, said: “We are incredibly grateful to HB&O Financial Services for picking Cancer Research UK as one of their chosen charities for the year and helping achieve our ambition of seeing three in four people survive their cancer by 2034″.

The Myton Hospices care for anyone with a terminal illness aged 18 years or over in Coventry and Warwickshire.

Chris Willmott, corporate fundraiser at The Myton Hospices, said: “A huge thank you to HB&O Financial Services for choosing to support Myton, once again, with another of their fabulous challenges. We’ve never needed the support more so we couldn’t be more grateful to the fabulous team and hope people will support them as much as possible to help raise as much money as possible to help us care for terminally ill patients across Coventry and Warwickshire and their families. We have to raise £9.1million this year to continue to provide our services free of charge – and we can’t do what we do without the amazing support of teams like HBOFS.”
