THERE was much fun to be had on the Avon at the weekend.
Stratford Stratford Boat Club’s Fun Regatta took place on Saturday with plenty of good humoured rivalry among the fancy dress clad teams.
Crews – made up of work colleagues and friends – competed side by side in the club’s ‘learn-to-row’ stable boats after just three hours training.
Racing conditions were perfect as crowds lined the banks to cheer on the 24 crews, with The Redbacks winning with the fastest time, and the Lightning Vikings taking the best fancy dress title.
Joint fun regatta secretary Chris Belcher said: “This year’s Fun Regatta, our seventeenth, was another great one in terms of number of local crews from companies and organisations.
“We also had crews from parents of our young rowers – fierce competition and rivalry – especially from the mum rowers from King Edward IV School – maxiMUM Mayhem.”
