SIXTY dogs are seeking new homes after being rescued by Dogs Trust staff from ‘atrocious’ conditions at a suspected puppy farm.
They were rescued from a house in Cannock Chase after an order was made by magistrates. The dogs were taken as they were suffering or likely to suffer if left in the care of their owner.
Chihuahuas and German Shepherds were among those rescued, and many are now at the Dogs Trust in Kenilworth awaiting new homes.
Charity director of operations Adam Clowes said: “We were delighted to support Cannock Chase Council with this case and pleased to be able to help find loving forever homes for these dogs.
“While they wait for their special someone to come along, they will be cared for by our expert team of canine carers.
“Anyone wishing to adopt one of the dogs is welcome to contact us to go through our usual adoption process or phone our Kenilworth rehoming centre.”
The dogs’ owners are now subject to an ongoing criminal investigation.
Cannock Chase Council environment spokesman coun John Preece said: “The council is incredibly grateful for the support of Dogs Trust as without it these dogs could still be living in the atrocious conditions in which they were found.
“I encourage anyone interested in rehoming a dog to contact the centre in Kenilworth and hear about the wonderful work they do.”
