Sir Trevor McDonald opens new apartments at Austin Heath in Warwick

LEGENDARY newsreader Sir Trevor McDonald was the guest of honour at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Austin Heath in Warwick.

Sir Trevor was joined by Deputy Warwick Mayor Parminder Singh Birdi at a special Summer Celebration to mark the opening of Phase Three of a development project, which has seen brand new apartments added to the homes on offer at the later living community in Heathcote.

Together they cut the ribbon to officially launch the new phase – and Sir Trevor also took part in a Q&A covering his news presenting career, knighthood, as well as tips on how he stays feeling young and how to make the most of retirement.

The Summer Celebration saw a great local turn out with live music, local produce stalls, craft and flower arranging demos, a vintage Austin Healey car and a barbecue.

Alison Harrison, Village Manager at Austin Heath, said: “It was great to welcome Sir Trevor to Austin Heath for our Summer Celebration to mark the opening of our newest phase, with a successful day full of music, laughter, glorious food and fun.”

James Cobb, Director of Inspired Villages, added: “The launch was a wonderful day and the perfect chance for visitors to learn more about life at the village and explore the show apartments and fantastic state-of-the-art facilities. It was an honour to have Sir Trevor McDonald join us too. He is the perfect example of how age is just a number.”
