CORONAVIRUS will not stop Santa from doing his rounds in Stratford district this year.
Fund-raising organisation Alcester and Stratford District Round Table will be accompanying the jolly man once again around town and villages in the district.
The festive tour will be running from December 5 in Bidford and running for two weeks.
The team has organised an annual Santa sleigh run for the past 40 years to raise money for local causes. And, although it will look a little different, this year is no exception. There will be fewer members on each route, and the team is unable to stop, knock on doors and hand-out chocolate. However, there will be an elf with a collection bucket for donations, as well as an online donation page.
Like many charities, the group has missed out on their other annual fund-raisers this year including the Pig Roast, Beer Festival or pork bap stall at Alcester’s St. Nicholas Night, meaning no money has been raised at all this year.
By contrast, the sleigh last year raised £6,575 which was distributed in January.
Chief elf Jeremy Harris said: “After having to cancel all our other fundraising events in this terrible year we couldn’t let 2020 end without touring with Santa and his sleigh. Although we need to do things differently this year, we’ll still be bringing some Christmas cheer with Santa dancing on his sleigh to festive tunes.”
