Santas out in force for Shakespeare Hospice

SANTAS were out in force spreading Christmas cheer around Stratford.

More than 300 runners in festive outfits braved the rain to take part in the Shakespeare Hospice Santa Run.

While racing around the 5km course they were covered in snow from a machine lent to the charity by Tracey Proctor and Phil Lancaster. The couple wanted the hospice to use their machine in memory of Phil’s son James who loved Christmas but tragically lost his battle with cancer.

The Santa Run has seen some £8,000 raised for the hospice – and money is still coming in.

Organiser Jenny Cowin said: “I am thrilled at the amount of support we have had so close to Christmas and the enthusiasm of all the Santas.

“It was amazing to see a sea of red and white running off into the distance. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who was involved.”
