Santa's helpers keeping eye out for those in need

Stratford Editorial 22nd Dec, 2018   0

SANTA’S helpers are keeping an eye on those in need in Stratford this Christmas.

The team at Specsavers Opticians on Wood Street is sponsoring the bags used to distribute food to foodbank users over the festive period.

A collection tin is also in the store for customers who would like to make a donation.

Store director Paul Griffiths said: “We were delighted to welcome the local foodbank in to the store to officially launch its appeal.

“It’s a particularly difficult time of year for many people who can’t afford lots of the items so often taken for granted.

“If we’re able to help, even in a small way, it can hopefully make a difference to local families in need.”

The Stratford Foodbank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to residents referred to them in crisis.

It is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
