Residents at retirement village step out in aid of Myton Hospices

FUND-RAISING residents at a Warwickshire retirement village have stepped out in aid of Myton Hospices.

Some 30 residents aged between 64 and 81 split into groups of ‘hares’ and ‘tortoises’ and took on walks of three, six and nine miles around the village and surrounding area.

It was part of the Myton Hospice’s ‘Walk for Myton’ event, which this year was held virtually due to the pandemic.

The charity supports those living with a life-limiting illness at its hospices in Warwick, Rugby and Coventry or at home.

Myton spokesman Chris Wilmott said: “We are so grateful to the residents of Great Alne Park for stepping into action to support The Myton Hospices at a time when support has never been needed more.

“While things have had to be very different because of coronavirus, we have been blown away by the effort people have made to support us by hosting their own walks and raising vital money to enable us to continue our work supporting terminally ill patients and their families across Coventry and Warwickshire.

“Thank you from everyone at Myton and, especially, thank you on behalf of all our patients and loved ones whose lives your support makes such a difference to.”
