Pet owners encouraged to take advantage of free dental checks

Stratford Editorial 14th Mar, 2017   0

DENTAL health is as important to pets as to their owners.

Avonvale Veterinary Centres are offering free dental checks at its surgeries in Warwick, Leamington, Stratford, Kenilworth, Southam and Wellesbourne as part of a campaign to help avoid gum disease in pets, which can cause major problems if left untreated.

The vets will provide advice to owners of cats and dogs on preventative dental care, including tips on how to brush pets’ teeth, and with every dental check booked, owners will receive a free finger brush. If pets require further treatment, the group will also offer 20 per cent off dental treatment carried out during March.

Avonvale clinical director Mark Taylor said: “There are many simple things owners can do to prevent dental disease in their animals and our veterinary nurses will be able to provide bespoke advice to pet owners.

“Oral health is an important element of pet care. Often infection can begin in the mouth and then spread to affect the whole body. It is important to remember most dental disease is treatable – and we can also do a lot to prevent the problem in the first place.”
