ONE of the Bard’s most famous characters could be coming to a roundabout in Stratford.
Plans have been submitted for a statue of Henry V to be put on the traffic island next to Waitrose at the Rosebird shopping centre on Shipston Road.
Plans for the statue have been submitted by the Bird Group, which owns both the Rosebird and Maybird shopping centres, as well as Wildmoor Spa.
In 2015, the group had hoped to install a specially commissioned statue of Shakespeare on the Bridge Street roundabout, but plans were rejected due to it being a hazard for motorists and pedestrians using the roundabout.
The application for the Henry V statue is currently with the town’s planning team. A final decision on whether it can go ahead is set to be made by the end of August.
