Meeting the newborn lambs down on the farm

Stratford Editorial 21st Mar, 2018 Updated: 23rd Mar, 2018   0

NEWBORN lambs must have thought they’d arrived too early.

The latest arrivals down on the farm at Warwickshire College’s Moreton Morrell centre have been greeted with snow and ice rather than spring sunshine.

But all are doing well and the college’s Nethermoreton Farm opened the gates to welcome visitors at the weekend to meet

the newborns, of which there will be around 1,000 by the end of the lambing season

Farm manager Henry Dingle said: “It was a real pleasure to open the farm gate to members of the public and show them lambing in action here at Moreton Morrell. Our ewes lambed consistently throughout the day and most families were lucky enough to see one or two being born.”

The mixed farm, featuring a flock of over 560 ewes, beef cattle and arable crops, is an independent commercial busines, while providing an opportunity for functions for agricultural and countryside management students to get first hand experience.
