Hippdrome announces 'unforgettable' season

Stratford Editorial 24th Sep, 2017   0

BIRMINGHAM Hippodrome has announced their new ‘unforgettable’ season.

The Hurst Street venue will see a number of West End and Broadway blockbusters from Evita and Wicked to Stomp. There will also be dance, opera and ballet shows along with a number of outdoor festivals.

Multi award-winning musical Evita is set to be one of the most popular performances of the season, along with sell-out comedy The Play That Goes Wrong.

Rhythm and dance show Stomp will also take to the stage, along with the first ever UK tour of Peter Stone’s award-winning Titanic – The Musical, following a critically-acclaimed run at London’s Charing Cross Theatre.

Christmas will see the Birmingham Royal Ballet perform the Nutcracker and a star-studded cast take to the stage for pantomime Cinderella. There will also be a children’s show based on popular book The Snow Dragon.

Spring will be a ‘fairy-tale’ season with Cinderella, a ballet of The Sleeping Beauty, Wicked and follows on with Matilda during summer and War Horse in Autumn.

Hippodrome artistic director Fiona Allan said: “Indoor, outdoor, large-scale and intimate – the Hippodrome is making huge efforts to present shows for all ages, all tastes and all budgets.

“Looking through our Autumn 2017/18 season, there are so many standout productions to choose from, so many memories to be made.

“But it’s not all about the blockbusters, and there are many gems to be found in the programme. Free talks and events offer up a treasure trove of alternative treats.

“Birmingham Hippodrome’s ability to continue to present such amazing productions and events is, of course, down to our audiences. As a charity in receipt of no revenue funding, their support ensures that we can continue to bring unforgettable performances to the heart of the West Midlands.”
