VINTAGE clothing expert Notty Hornblower will be telling people if their wardrobe classics are worth a pretty penny.
She will be at Hansons Auctioneers’ latest free valuation day being held at The Malt House in Alveston on Friday May 31, from 1pm to 4pm.
Ms Hornblower, vintage clothing consultant for Hansons, said: “I love to see all types of period clothing and textiles. Recent finds have included a floaty French Chloe robe with a vibrant Oriental design from the 1970s which I valued at £300 to £400.
“Then there was an early 1970s, moss crepe, burnt orange dress by Ossie valued at £90 to £120 and a late 1930s/early 40s black sequin Lucien Lelong jacket. Lelong was an iconic French designer who made an impact on the fashion world between the 1920s and 1940s. I estimated that at £200 to £300.
“It’s not unusual for people to own period clothing from the 1940s, 50s, 60s and 70s and those forgotten wardrobe classics may be worth far more than you imagine.”
With her in Alveston will be general antiques, paintings, watches and fine art expert Adrian Rathbone, associate director at Hansons Auctioneers.
