Generous Rotarians raise a cheque or two

Ian Hughes 5th Aug, 2017

ROTARIANS recently presented local charities with £25,500 from funds raised mainly from the Shakespeare Marathon and Half Marathon, and the Rotary Golf Day.

Stratford upon Avon Rotary Club handed over the cash to four main beneficiaries – The Shakespeare Hospice, ESH Works, Stratford Samaritans and Lifespace Trust.

Past president Gilly Rushton and new president Ian Reid presented the Shakespeare Hospice with a cheque for £18,500.

Gilly Rushton said: “Stratford Rotary Club are delighted to continue our long standing support of our excellent local charities.

We are planning a second annual Shakespeare Duck Race on August 26 at 2pm, starting at the weir when we hope to increase the £4,000 raised last year for the Children’s and Young Persons Unit at the Shakespeare Hospice.”
