Free electric blanket safety tests offered

Stratford Editorial 28th Aug, 2018   0

ELECTRIC blanket testing is set to help residents sleep safely.

Warwickshire trading standards is offering free electric blanket safety testing in October to those over 50.

One in every three blankets tested in 2017 failed, and faulty electric blankets are a known cause of house fires.

Tests – by an expert electrical examiner – will be carried out at Stratford Briar Croft on Monday October 1, Leamington Town Hall on October 2, Rugby Fire Station on October 3, and Kenilworth Library on October 5.

Warwickshire residents can book by emailing [email protected] or calling 01926 414024.

Appointments are made on a first come first served basis and are limited.

Those unable to make the event can check their blankets by looking for warning signs such as worn or frayed fabric, scorch marks, damaged or missing tie tapes and loose connections.
