Foodbank has successful year despite rise in users

Stratford Editorial 22nd Dec, 2017   0

STRATFORD Foodbank has experienced a successful year despite user numbers doubling.

Following its biggest collection yet – with £4,500 worth of food donated earlier this month – Foodbank manager Marion Homer is confident there will be enough food to see those in need through the next two months despite a 50 per cent rise in users.

Marion said: “2017 has been a challenging year for the foodbank, but we have accomplished a great deal – and I am immensely proud of all the wonderful volunteers and donors who make our foodbank possible.”

The foodbank can be found in the Tesco car park in Birmingham Road.

Hours of operation include Tuesday 12pm to 2pm, Thursday 5pm to 6.30pm and Friday 12pm to 2pm and will open as usual over Christmas including boxing day.

Anyone in urgent need of a food parcel and unable to speak to a referral agency such as the Citizen’s Advice Bureau or Stratford District Council, should email [email protected] for more details.
