FIVE people have been arrested on suspicion of drink or drug driving on Warwickshire’s roads.
Patrolling officers charged a 61-year-old woman from Bidford following a crash between a car and a van in Broad Street on Saturday. She is scheduled to appear before Warwickshire Magistrates in January.
On the following Monday, a 41-year-old woman from Rugby was arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a breath test and of making threats to kill. She spent the night in custody and has been released on bail with strict conditions pending further investigation.
Further arrests were made in Atherstone, Nuneaton and Coventry.
Publicising arrests in the run up to Christmas is part of a campaign to change people’s behaviour and reduce the number of deaths and injuries on the county’s roads.
Officers are also asking the public to provide intelligence about anyone they believe may be drink or drug driving in Warwickshire to police by calling 101. Reports can also be made anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
