Fitness fanatic wins award for apprenticeship role

A FITNESS fanatic has won an award for his apprenticeship at a Stratford gym.

Maciej Stencel, whose apprenticeship is delivered by Stratford College, received the title Employee of the Quarter for his dedication to his fitness instructor role at Anytime Fitness.

The 20-year-old had planned to enter the IT industry before his hobbies inspired him to pursue his dream of becoming a personal trainer.

He said: “I’ve always been very interested in sport, in particular football.

“When I finished high school, I started to go to the gym regularly and my passion for fitness grew from there. Working in the industry was an obvious choice.”

Regional manager Chris Bloomfield said the student’s tenacity and drive stood out to him after Maciej repeatedly asked for an apprentice role every time he visited.

Mr Bloomfield added: “Whatever he does he throws himself into. Even when he’s not working, he’s in the gym. He often leaves at 11pm at night and is back in at 6am the following morning to start work.”
