Families who spent Christmas in Warwick hospital baby-unit sent bags of blessings

A KIND-hearted mum-of-two has handed out gifts to families who spent Christmas at Warwick Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).

Last Christmas Jayne Lavelle’s new born son had to spend time on the unit.

And to support those who were going through the same experience this year, Jayne called on the support of local people and companies to help her create ‘blessing bags’.

The bags were handed out on Christmas Day and included a gift for the baby, a book for siblings, a pamper gift bag for new mothers and activities for partners.

Jayne said: “It’s a charity close to my heart as my little boy spent a week there last year when he was born and they were absolutely brilliant. I couldn’t think of a better local charity.”

And SCBU ward manager Katrina Harris says families were delighted to receive the donations.

She said: “Families were so grateful for these bags. They brightened parents days over the festive period at what is often a very difficult time.

“All donations to SCBU help us to create more of a family friendly environment and enhance the care that we can provide.”
