Eye care in south Warwickshire among the best in the country

Stratford Editorial 16th Mar, 2019   0

EYE care at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust is among the best in the country.

The trust has been recognised nationally for demonstrating clinical excellence and for making a significant difference to the lives of ophthalmology patients.

The trust’s Vulnerable Adult Ophthalmology Service won the Best Patient Support or Education Initiative award at the Ophthalmology Honours event.

The monthly clinic for patients with moderate to severe dementia, learning difficulties or mental health conditions, is specifically provided by specialists with dementia awareness training, who assess patients in a comfortable and quiet environment with no time pressures.

Independent experts also highly commended the trust’s glaucoma service in the Best Ophthalmology Service Improvement category and Sarah Queen, consultant nurse and ophthalmology clinical director, as an Outstanding Ophthalmology Nurse.

Sarah said: “As a department we strive to constantly improve patient experience and clinical care. Therefore, to win the Best Patient Support or Education Initiative award and to be highly commended in another two categories really highlights the high standard of care we are providing and the outstanding work we are doing.

“Thank you to the whole ophthalmology team whose dedication and passion have made these achievements possible.”
