Elderly dog 'Captain Jack' looking for new shipmate

A ELDERLY dog nicknamed Captain Jack is looking to find some treasure in the form of a new home.

With staff at Dogs Trust in Kenilworth excited about the release of the new Pirates of the Caribbean film, they have given one of their shipmates the inspired nickname Captain Jack.

The 12 year-old crossbreed pup was placed in the care of the rehoming centre last September due to no fault of his own.

And staff hope the lovable pup will soon be setting sail to a new home where he can put his paws up and enjoy retirement.

Centre manager Emma Healey said: “Jack is a lovely little dog but can be shy around new people, so his ideal home would be a quiet, adult only one with no other pets and very few visitors.

“He is an older chap but loves his daily walks and once he knows you he is very friendly. He is fully housetrained and can be left alone for a couple of hours at a time.

“Any potential new owners would need to meet Jack at the rehoming centre several times to build a bond and get to know him before taking him home.

“Jack has been marooned with us too long and we’re hoping that a first-mate will come forward and offer him the ultimate treasure of a retirement home soon.”

Call 0300 303 0292 or visit the centre if Jack has shivered your timbers and you can offer him a new home.
