A PANICKED Bidford resident called police after the earthquake on Saturday shook their house.
The caller worried there had been a explosion nearby.
But police confirmed an earthquake had been reported near Swansea in Wales, around the time of the call, and did not attend.
The minor quake – with a 4.4 magnitude and depth of 7.4km – was felt all over Wales and in most of western England, as far east as London and as far north as the southern edge of the Lake District, according to the British Geological Survey.
There have been no reports of serious damage or injuries.
