A DRIVER and his dog were rescued by firefighters after a car overturned and landed in a ditch at Southam.
It happened on the A425 on Sunday morning.
A doctor already on the scene said the driver was ‘battered and bruised’ but had escaped serious injury.
The driver’s pug dog, Peri, was discovered under a seat.
A fire spokesman said: “One brave firefighter climbed underneath the rear of the car and appeared with a very healthy looking Peri.
“She was handed to a paramedic, who then passed Peri to a veterinary nurse – who was just passing – for a quick check over.
“All reports were driver and pooch were doing well.”
