Coronavirus: Stagecoach introduce reduced bus timetable in Coventry and Warwickshire

STAGECOACH has introduced a reduced bus timetable in Coventry and Warwickshire.

The firm has made further changes to a previously planned reduced timetable which was set to come into force today.

A spokesman said: “Following the prime minister’s announcement imposing further restrictions on movements on Monday March 23, we have had to review the services that were due to come into effect from today (March 30).

“Instead, we will now run a level of service similar to Sundays with additional journeys added early morning and in the evening to cater for NHS staff and key worker shift patterns. We will also run a limited service in areas that don’t have Sunday routes to avoid areas being cut off.

“In line with the prime minister’s announcements we would ask our customers to only travel if essential for them to do so.”

The timetable will operate across the region until further notice. It has been created to ensure critical routes are maintained wherever possible.

It follows action by bus operators to enhance cleaning regimes and protect the safety and wellbeing of customers and bus workers.

And the bus and coach industry is also working with government to help ensure the long-term future of bus services critical to the economy and local communities, are protected.
