Climate conscious residents invited to eco cafe

Stratford Editorial 5th Mar, 2020   0

CLIMATE anxious residents in Stratford are invited to drop in to a new eco cafe.

Campaign organisations Stratford Climate Action, Friends of the Earth and Extinction Rebellion, are setting up the monthly cafe to bring together eco-minded folk to discuss their concerns about climate change over tea and biscuits.

The cafe will be launched at The Townhouse in Church Street on Saturday (March 7) between 11am and 1pm.

Founders say scientists’ projections, increasing floods, storms and wildfires mean many people are suffering from anxiety and uncertainty about what they can do individually.

Stratford Climate Action chair Stephen Norrie said: “Many people are increasingly worried about the world their children will grow up in, and how it will look in a couple of decades time. It’s better to confront these fears together than to persist alone in the common cycle of evasion and anxiety. So we hope a regular eco cafe will give local people an opportunity to explore these issues, and the difference we can all make as individuals.”

The cafe will run on the first Saturday of each month.
