Charity will say it with flowers at debut Bard's Night event

Stratford Editorial 4th Apr, 2017   0

THEY will be saying it with flowers at The Bard’s Night debut event.

The entertainment-packed evening to raise the curtain on the annual Shakespeare celebrations will be fundraising for the Shakespeare Hospice – its chosen charity of the year.

Guests will have a chance to buy a handmade Forget-Me-Not flower courtesy of the hospice’s spring campaign. Some 1,000 flowers will make up the Forget Me Not Celebration Garden, inspired by the Tower of London poppy display, in front of the RST from April 10 to 23.

Fundraising supervisor Jo Reeves said: “A stunning sea of 1,000 beautiful blue handmade flowers will be in full bloom in the Bancroft Gardens, in front of The RSC Theatre, throughout Easter and during the Shakespeare Anniversary Celebrations, and as well as people being able to pre-order their flowers now, we’re delighted to say we’ll also be at The Bard’s Night in April showing and selling our flowers there.

“They can provide a lasting tribute to a loved one, or a unique way to celebrate a special occasion or anniversary. We’re very grateful to The Bard’s Night for supporting our charity – and we look forward to a great night.”

The Bard’s Night will be taking over Stratford Artshouse on Friday April 21 with dinner, entertainment and music including from Diabolus in Musica – a quartet of musicians specialising in the popular music of Elizabethan England, with authentic instruments.

Tickets to the black-tie event cost from £60 to £150. Visit www.stratfordartshouse.co.uk or call 01789 207100 for information.
