Calm after Storm Doris

Stratford Editorial 24th Feb, 2017   0

STORM Doris swept through Warwickshire causing transport delays and pulling trees over in her wake.

Fire crews in the county had received some 50 999 calls by rush-hour on Thursday (February 24) and Warwickshire Police had been called nearly 200 times.

Over 150 trees are believed to have fallen in the high winds – a wall behind the Lord Leycester hospital in Warwick suffered damage when a tree fell onto it, roads were blocked across the country by other which had been taken out by Doris and several households lost fences and greenhouses due to high winds.

But people showed their community spirit by rescuing neighbours’ wheelie bins which were rolling away and helping to clear debris and branches off the roads.
