'Brexit Club' will offer advice for businesses

Stratford Editorial 6th Dec, 2016   0

INTERNATIONAL trade will be the key to success in 2017 despite the uncertainties created by Brexit.

That is the view of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce which is launching new support packages for businesses on top of the current services it offers through its International Trade Hub.

The Chamber is launching a Brexit Club in the New Year to offer impartial business advice in dealing with the consequences of the EU referendum.

Events will be held across the region to help firms understand what Brexit might mean to their ability to trade abroad and how it could impact on hiring staff from overseas.

The Chamber also plans to lobby the government to ensure the Coventry and Warwickshire business community voice is heard.

Chamber spokesman James Ahearne said firms had to make the most of opportunities to them abroad.

He added: “We’ve had the Brexit vote which has created uncertainty but it has also created opportunity for exporters in terms of the value of the pound.

“As a Chamber we intend to be there help companies mitigate the risks that lie ahead, but also capitalise on opportunities to expand into new overseas markets.

“We’re calling on companies to get involved with the Chamber of Commerce – not only as place to access advice and support, but also as the voice for local businesses during these uncertain times.”
