Bomb disposal experts carry out controlled explosion in Stratford

Stratford Editorial 19th Jul, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

BOMB disposal experts were called to Stratford after a suspect package was reported.

Police officers evacuated an area around Henley and Windsor Street after an unattended suitcase was reported near to the Edinburgh Woollen Mill at around 5pm on Monday.

They later also closed Mansell Street, Guild Street and part of Birmingham Road, putting a 200m cordon in place.

A bomb disposal team carried out a small, controlled explosion of the case – which is believed to have contained souvenirs and clothes – just after 7pm.

The roads are now open as normal.
