AN ANIMAL sanctuary witnessed its own Easter miracle after rescuing a sheep in desperate need of treatment.
Aptly-named Daffodil arrived at the Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary (FARS) in Wolverton undernourished and very poorly.
After a few days of TLC, food and treatment from sanctuary owner Carole Webb and the team, Daffodil began to venture out to graze with the rest of the rescued sheep.
But a few days later, panic ensued when a volunteer spotted Daffodil collapsed in a field.
Fearing the worst, she was carried to a barn and a vet was called.
But while everyone feared her number was up, the ewe surprised everyone by giving birth to a lamb who was named Bambi.
Carole said: “No one could have predicted such an outcome. Daffodil had arrived at FARS in a very bad way. She was in such poor condition, very thin, and carrying a lamb that no one knew about. Neither would have survived if she hadn’t been brought to the sanctuary.”
She added it had been touch and go for Daffodil and Bambi but the team was hopeful both would now thrive.
The sanctuary relies completely on donations to meet its £80,000 yearly running costs and for food, straw and the general wellbeing of the animals.

FARS is holding an Easter open day to introduce visitors to some of its rescued residents which includes sheep, pigs and goats.
The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday (April 20 and 21).
Activities include an Easter hat competition, face painting, a tombola plus refreshments.
