All aboard for guided tour of George Eliot places this weekend - with seats still available

A COACH tour stops of at local places mentioned in globally celebrated George Eliot’s novels this weekend – and places are up for grabs to Coventry and Warwickshire people.

The George Eliot Tour 2018 – hosted by experts from the George Eliot Fellowship – takes place on Sunday (May 27), starting at Chilvers Coton Heritage Centre at 12 noon and finishing there at 7pm.

They will learn about the victorian novelist George Eliot’s – aka Mary Ann Evans – life and books.

The tour visits Chilvers Coton churchyard after an introductory talk with refreshments.




Then the coach goes to Arbury Hall for a tour of the hall and gardens with a visit to the tea rooms an optional extra.

From there, the tour visits South Farm, the birthplace of George Eliot which is only accessible on a George Eliot Tour.


Next stop is Astley church, with an appropriate reading from the novels.

The tour finishes at Griff house, where George Eliot lived for 21 years, and then returns to Coton Heritage Centre, where refreshments will be available.
