THERE will be a golden glow to this year’s Alcester St Nicholas Night.
Olympic equestrian champion Nick Skelton, who rode to gold on Big Star to victory at the Rio games, will officially get the festive season underway when he cuts the ribbon on the St Nicholas Night celebrations on December 6. They will start at
at 3.30pm with the St Nicholas market, followed by music, a parade of vintage vehicles, a fireworks display and seasonal service at St Nicholas Church.
Alcester mayor Chris Brannigan said: “We are delighted to welcome back home to Alcester Nick Skelton.
“There will be a short reception in Alcester Memorial Town Hall to give representatives from various Alcester groups the opportunity to show their appreciation of Nick’s remarkable achievement.
“Big Star will no doubt be cheered in his absence.”
