FESTIVITIES will be ramped up in Alcester this year with a special Christmas community concert.
Plans are well underway to celebrate both Christmas and the return to live music on Saturday December 11, at the Greig Leisure Centre.
The show – compered by town crier David Parkes – will feature the Alcester Male Voice Choir, The Studio 17 Tap Dancers, Alcester Junior Drama Group, pianist Irina Chagunava and The Worcester Ukulele Club.
Organiser Judith Land, who is the director of music for the Alcester Male Voice Choir, said: “I felt that after what turned out to be a disappointing Christmas for many last year it would be nice to get organisations, from the town together, and put on a Christmas concert.
“It should be a fun evening and there will be an opportunity for audience participation in the singing of carols.
“Although I am the show’s producer I could not have put this together without the full backing of Alcester Town Council and the many participants. It really is a town event.
“Strict Covid secure measures will be in place and we will strongly encourage the wearing of face coverings to protect the audience and performers”
A spokesman for Alcester Town Council said: “Unfortunately due to the pandemic there will only be a limited number of tickets available, but we are delighted that a Christmas Concert will be taking place in our town, tickets for this event will be free to Alcester residents, courtesy of a grant from Alcester Town Council.”

The closing date for ticket applications is November 20.
In the event more applications are received than tickets available, there will be a draw and successful applicants will be notified via email by November 27.
