A Busy Mayday for Morris Men

MORRIS Dancers are preparing for a busy Mayday.

The Ilmington Morris Men, who have kept up traditions for over three centuries, will start dancing at 5.15am on Monday ( May 1), at Ilmington Downs before heading to The Summit for sunrise.

The troop will continue to jingle their way round Ilmington with stops at Bennett’s Place (6am), The Lower Green (6.20am), 6:50am Washbrook Place (6.50am), Featherbed Lane (7.15am) The Old Fox House on Foxcote Hill (7.40am) Berry View on Back Street, (8am), Lower Campden Hill (8.30am).

They will then be teaming up with fellow morris men from Chipping Campden, Pebworth and the Shakespeare Morris Men for a 10.30am appearance in Bancroft Gardens in Stratford, followed by Compton Verney (12.30pm), the Heritage Motor Museum (2.30pm), before rounding off at The Stag’s Head in Wellesbourne at 4.30pm.




The programme is weather-permitting.
