Warwickshire Chris Woakes returns to England Test squad

Stratford Editorial 5th Jul, 2024 Updated: 5th Jul, 2024   0

Chris Woakes was named in the England Test match squad on Sunday, June 30 for England’s home series against the West Indies. It is a recall for Woakes after being left out over the winter.

England will bid farewell to James Anderson, their greatest-ever bowler, at the end of the first Test, with Woakes expected to lead the attack for the following matches.

Paddy Power, one of the largest bookmakers in the UK, has odds on a wide range of sports.

They have numerous cricket markets available for the international summer. Visit Paddy Power to check out the latest England vs West Indies odds — England are favourites to win the Test series, despite Ben Stokes’ team failing to win their last four multiple-match Test series.

West Indies are only ranked eighth in the world, and have a very underwhelming record over the last few years, despite beating England when the teams met in the Caribbean in 2021-22.

They have not won a Test series against anyone other than England, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe,

and Bangladesh since 2012.

Woakes Leading the Attack

If you’re after sports betting tips for this series, Woakes will have a big role to play, particularly in Anderson’s absence. It’s a very inexperienced bowling attack around Woakes – Dillon Pennington and Gus Atkinson are both uncapped, while Matthew Potts has played just six Test matches. Shoaib Bashir is the lone spinner after playing three Tests in India over the winter.
